Ruth Wilson is an actress who hails from the UK. She had started her career by landing minor roles for a variety of television shows before making her mark in 2006 with the limited TV series Jane Eyre. Wilson graduated from the University of Nottingham with a bachelor’s degree in history and would later also at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She finished her studies in the year 2005. After graduating from the acting school, Wilson’s first acting role happened with Suburban Shootout; a dramedy screened from 2006 in the UK for two years. Wilson’s celebrity status made its way around the globe in 2014 when she agreed to star as Alison Lockhart in the Showtime Network’s The Affair. The show features her as a woman in her youth who becomes the mistress of a man; it was a massive success and was received with admiration by TV critics and audiences alike. In 2015, Rita won a Golden Globe under the Best Actress category in a TV Series Drama. Wilson left the series in 2018–to the surprise of far too many supporters — but was vague about further information. Wilson eventually made her Broadway appearance in 2014 after performing on the set for many years, starring opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Constellations at S.J. Friedman Theatre. The play proved to be a hit, earning a Theater World Award and nominating Ruth for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play” for her first Tony Award. She returned to Broadway in April 2019, after her controversial leave from the small screen, as the beautiful Cordelia in King Lear.
