Born as Nicole Camille Escovedo on September 21, 1981, she is an American television personality, fashion designer, author, socialite and actress. The Berkeley, California born Richie has English, Mexican and Creole African-American heritage. When she was three years old, her biological parents let her move in with Lionel Richie since they couldn’t afford her expenses. “My parents were friends with Lionel” she told People in 2003. “They trusted that they would be better able to provide for me.”
Richie and his wife Brenda Harvey legally adopted Nicole at the age of nine. Soon, it became well known that Lionel had affair with another woman. Richie shot to fame after sh was cast in the Fox reality TV series, The Simple Life alongside her childhood best friend and socialite Paris Hilton which had a five season run.
