Mia Wasikowska was born in Canberra, Australia, and raised there. She started to go to school at Cook Primary School and then Ainslie Primary. The blonde gal studied at Canberra High School for a while then moved on to Queanbeyan Karabar High School for higher education. She has two siblings named Jess and Kai. Her mom, Marzena Wasikowska, is a Polish photographer while her dad, John Reid, is an Australian man who also has the same occupation. In 1998, when she was eight years old, Wasikowska and her family had moved for a year to Poland, after her mother ended up receiving adequate funding to generate a catalog of work based on her perception of emigrating from Poland to Australia.
In 2004, Wasikowska booked her first-ever acting role, with a very brief tenure on All Saints. She had already turned 15 when she got picked to be a part of her Australian movie launch, Suburban Mayhem, for which she received an AFI Award nomination for a Young Actor. She also appeared in her first short film titled Lens Love Story, in which Mia had no speaking parts. Wasikowska got her first significant role in the United States at the age of seventeen when she got tapped to play the part of Sophie, a self-destructive gymnast, in HBO ‘s renowned weekly drama titled In Treatment. The beautiful blonde had auditioned by video recording herself reading the script meant for the job. The part demanded that she stop school in Canberra and relocate for three months to Los Angeles while enlisting in college classes.
