Hailie was born to singer Eminem and Kimberly “Kim” Anne Scott, who had met while in high school. After Kim ran and her twin sister Dawn ran away from home in 1987, Eminem convinced his mother to let the stay with them. Soon he was into a relationship with Kim. Hailie was born on December 25, 1995 in Detroit, Michigan. After four years, Eminem married Kim, however, they divorced in 2001. Eminem and Kim remarried in January 2006, but, he filed for divorce again in April 2006.
Hailey grew up alongside Alaina Marie, who was her maternal aunt Dawn’s daughter, and Whitney, who was Kim’s daughter from another relationship. Eminem adopted both Alaina Marie and Whitney.
Hailie grew up in a turbulent domestic environment. A year after she was born, her parents separated for many years, before coming back together briefly again. In the year 2001, Kim was charged with cocaine possession, but, wasn’t convicted. Two years later, she was charged with felony possession of cocaine, driving with a suspended license and dangerous driving near a stopped emergency vehicle. This time she was jailed for 30 days after violating her probation. In the year 2017, Eminem released a song ‘Bad Husband’ wherein he apologized to Kim for causing her pain.
Unlike other celebrity children who often get home-schooled, Hailie attended the Chippewa Valley High School in Michigan, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and played Volleyball. After she graduated Summa Cum Laude, she enrolled at the Michigan State University where she is reportedly pursuing a degree, either in psychology or business.
Although, her father is a famous star, Hailie had a regular childhood in her early years. However, things started changing after the release of ‘Hailie’s Song in 2002. The song was about the blissful story that Eminem experienced after gaining her custody.
In the year 2004, he released a song ‘Mockingbird’ which was also about Hailie. This song was very different in tone to ‘Hailie’s Song.’ Eminem regretted not being there for his daughter and has desperately tried to make sure that he and Kim love her, despite the distance between them.
Over the years, she has found repeated mention in Eminem’s songs like ‘When I’m Gone (2005) to ‘Castle’ and ‘Arose’ (both 2017), and she still happens to be the most important inspiration for his music.
