Japanese-American Devon Edwenna Aoki was born on August 10, 1982, to parents, Hiroaki Aoki and Pamela Hillburger. Devon was born in New York City and spent her childhood in California and London, where she attended high school in The American School in London. Devon has any half-siblings that she shares with her two other siblings.
Devon’s modeling dream started when she met Kate Moss at 13 years old. When she turned 15, Devon began to model for Balenciaga and Chanel. Devon also became the brand ambassador of Versace at 16 years old, replacing Naomi Campbell. As Devon grew famous, she began posing for Chanel, Y.S.L., L’Oreal, Tiffany and Co., and Hugo Boss. She also walked the runway for Chanel, Oscar Dela Renta, Celine, Marc Jacobs, and Versace.
Devon’s continued success became more significant as she became a cover for magazines like Interview, Cosmo Girl Korea, and Harper’s Bazaar. In 2007, Devon collaborated with Levi’s jeans for their Asian collection, Levi’s + D. She later went into a modeling hiatus and focused more on her acting career.
Devon returned to the runway in 2017, where she modeled for Moschino and posed for the ad campaigns of Sephora x Moschino and Hugo Boss. Then, in 2018, she walked for Jeremy Scott’s brand and appeared again in Vogue, Nordstrom, and Swarovski. Her last appearance was in Harper’s Bazaar’s September 2019 issue called Bazaar Icons 2019.
Aside from modeling, Devon also ventured into acting. Her first acting feature was on the movie, Death of a Dynasty in 2003. In the same year, she appeared in 2 Fast and 2 Furious as Suki. Later, in 2004, Devon starred in the action-comedy film, D.E.B.S., as Dominique. But her most significant break to date is her appearance in the Quentin Tarantino film, Sin City. She portrayed the character, Miho. She, along with her co-stars, even got a nomination for the Critics’ Choice Awards.
In 2014, Devon landed the role of Tatsu Yamashiro in the series, Arrow. However, due to a conflict in schedule, she had to decline the offer, and Rila Fukushima replaced her instead.
Currently, Devon is a mother of three beautiful kids and a wife to James Bailey.
