Born as Danielle Jane Harmer on 8 February 1989, she is a British actress, TV personality and former singer. She is renowned for playing the role of Tracy Beaker in the CBBC programmes The Story of Tracy Beaker, Tracy Beaker Returns and Tracy Beaker Survival Files from 2002 to 2012. She has also been seen on the BBC sitcom ‘After You’ve Gone.’ In the year 2018, Harmer reprised the character of Tracy Beaker in Dumping Ground, the fourth spinoff series based on The Story of Tracy Beaker, which has been on air since 2013.
She played a starring role in her own sitcom titled Dani’s House from 2008 to 2012 and in its spinoff show Dani’s Castle from 2013 to 2014. Harmer has at times presented continuity clips on the CBBC. She also presented Friday Download during its first season where she was the guest presenter of the ‘Style Download’ segment.
In the year 2008, she entered music world and signed a 3 million British pounds record deal. Her debut album titled Superheroes was recorded in September 2009, and released a single and theme from Dani’s House, “Free”, but, the album was never released and it was later disclosed that she had given up on her music career.
She participated in Let’s Dance for Sport Relief in March 2012 alongside the Outnumbered star Tyger Drew-Honey. They both made it to the finals and were joint runners-up. Harmer also participated in the season ten of the BBC ballroom dancing show titled Strictly Come Dancing. In the same year, she was teamed up with Vincent Simone and they made it to the grand final, before finishing in the fourth place.
