Cassandra Monique Batie is the birth name of the famous American singer and songwriter Andra Day. She was born on December 30, 1984, in Spokane, Washington. At the age of three, she along with her family settled in Southern California and later brought up in and around San Diego, California. She started singing at a very tender age as a choir member at the First United Methodist Church in Chula Vista, California.
Andra Day was an artist with excellence in every field since her childhood. She started her dance practice at the age of 5 and continued it till her 20’s. At the age of 12, she felt blessed by the influence of famous vocalists of that time including Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington. Andra graduated from the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts in the year 2003. After completing her High School, Day took up lots of opportunities from every field. One of those was child’s entertainer. During her work tenure, she was capable enough to catch sight of a few renowned people. Through their connection, she came in contact with the producer Adrian Gurvitz.
Later in the year 2011, Day was signed in with Buskin Bonds to a development deal. Andra gained name and fame for her unplugged covers and mashups displayed on her YouTube channel. Few of her popular covers were “Mamma Knows Best”, “Lose Yourself”, “Uprising” and much more. At the same time, Andrawas also involved in the making of 40 original songs with the famous producer Gurvitz. On August 28, 2015, her first studio album namely “Cheers to the Fall” got released. Its appraisal can be understood by the fact that her album stood at number 48 at the Billboard 200 list. She was honored with the Powerhouse Award at the Billboard Women in Music event in December 2016.
