Born on 19 June 1977, Veronika Varekova is a Czech model. She is a native of Olomouc, Czech Republic and had moved to New York City when she was 19, to attend the Parsons School of Design. After she landed in Manhattan, she met with Next Models and got a contract immediately.
Varekova was featured on the covers of numerous magazines such as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She participated in photo shoots by photographers including Patrick Demarcheller, Gilles Bensimon, Ellen Von Unsworth, Greg Kadel and Peter Lindbergh. She appeared in campaigns for Gap, Chanel, Guess, Nivea, Escada, Chopard, Pantene, Ungaro, Palek Philippe, Hublot, Victoria’s Secret and Newport News. In the year 2004, Varekova married Petr Nedved, a Czech Canadian professional ice-hockey player. They separated in 2006.
Varekova climbed the Mount Kilimanjaro in the year 2008. During her trip, she met the African Wildlife Foundation’s team in Tanzania. In October 2009, she became a Goodwill Ambassador for the organisation. She also happens to be the patron volunteer at the SZPD Orphanage in her hometown Olomouc.
