LeBron James, everyone’s favorite basketball player to despise, has just agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers worth approximately $97.1 million dollars, because $100 million dollars would be absurd.
The deal will keep LeBron in LA through the 2024-25 season, which is when he’ll be 40 years old. Not a bad way to ring in your 40th, but at this point in his career, does money even matter? He’s got so much of it from his investments, his businesses, his long career, his endorsements, it’s just points in the video game that is his life, almost meaningless.
Clearly, a key asset to the team, filling seats and selling merch, the agreement could rise to 111 million dollars if there is a significant salary cap increase next season.
LeBron has made over $532 million dollars in his career, making him the all time earner, above Kevin Durant, the previous all time earner.
This could be how LeBron closes out his career, but J.Lo is in her 50s and still pushing bikini pics, so the era of aging out may be behind us.
