Hasselbeck grew up as a Roman Catholic and attended St. Mary School in Cranston before going to St. Mary Academy – Bay View in East Providence from where she graduated in 1995. She then studied at the Boston College, where she was the captain of the women’s softball team for two seasons, winning successive Big East championships.
With a major on large scale paintings and industrial design, she graduated with a BFA in 1999. Hasselbeck started working for Puma in 1998 while she was at Boston College. After her graduation, she worked as a member of Puma shoes design team before embarking on a television career.
Hasselbeck became famous as a contestant on the second season of the American version of Survivor, where she ended up in fourth place. She got married to NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck in July 2002.
In November 2003, she became the fourth co-host on The View where she replaced Lisa Ling. Alongside her co-hosts Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, and Barbara Walters, she was awarded the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show host at the 36 th Daytime Emmy Awards.
After spending ten years on the show, Hasselbeck exited in July 2013. She joined Fox & Friends as a co-host in September of that year. In November 2015, Hasselbeck announced her retirement and decision to leave Fox & Friends to spend more time with her family. She last appeared on the show on December 22, 2015 before retiring.
According to Hasselbeck, she is neither a conservative nor a liberal. Her parents were liberals. She mentioned that the term ‘conservative’ is not a definition of her as a person. She was a keynote speaker at the Republican National Conventions in 2004 as well as 2008.
On October 26, 2008, she appeared at Republican rallies in Florida, introducing vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin. In August 2013, the conservative Newsmax magazine placed Hasselbeck among the “25 most influential women in the GOP.”
