Born as Jenny Ebbing Skavlan on June 3, 1986, she is a Norwegian model, actress, television presenter, and author. Skavlan was raised in Bygdoy peninsula in the Frogner neighborhood of Oslo. Her father, Jorgen Skavlan is a doctor and her mother is a costume designer/textile artist. Skavlan studied at the Fagerborg Upper Secondary School where she had played the lead role in the traditional Fagerborg revue show for two successive years. She met the musician Thomas Gullestad in the year 2008 and they got married in 2014.
Skavlan debuted as a movie actress at the age of eight as Alveola in Body Troopers, after which she played numerous roles in commercials including a commercial for Gilde Norsk Kjott in 2002. She played the role of a friend to the character named Malin in the movie Fatso, which was based on Lars Ramslie’s novel of the same name. She was featured as Chris in a zombie spaltter movie Dead Snow, which premiered in January 2009. She played the character Gitte in the Swedish movie Once Upon a Time in Phuket alongside Peter Magnusson and David Hellenius.
In the year 2007, Skavlan did modelling for the T-shirt brand Russ. In August 2009, she worked as a TV presenter with Studio FEM on FEM, a Norwegian TV channel targeting young women. She co-hosts the Norwegian version of Fort Boyard alongside Daniel Franck. She has also presented the opening season of the cooking show Masterchef Norge. In 2012, she presented the talk show Tweet4Tweet. Later in the year 2012, she was the presenter of the extreme sports show Fritt Fall.
Alongside Erik Solbakken, she was the presenter of Melodi Grand Prix 2013 and 2014, the Norwegian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Skavlan has been seen on Swedish TV in a comedy series Halvvags till himlen which was aired on TV4.
