Born as Kimberly Payne Williams on September 14, 1971, she is an American actress. She was born in Rye, New York to Linda Barbara, a fund-raiser and Gurney Williams III, a health and science writer. She also has a sister named Ashley who is also an actress, and she has been in the entertainment business since she was thirteen. In the year 1989, she directed the Rye High School Musical Revue. She left Northwestern University during her sophomore year to act in a 1991 movie version of Father of the Bride, and later completed her degree in drama. During her college years, she was a sister of the Alpha Phi sorority.
She is famous for her co-starring roles on According to Jim and Nashville, and also her breakthrough performance in Father of the Bride (1991) and was nominated for a number of awards. Later she appeared in its sequel Father of the Bride Part II (1995).
Throughout her career, Williams has guest-starred on TV shows such as Tales From The Crypt, George Lopez and Less Than Perfect. She is also renowned for appearing in made-for-TV films like Safe House, The Christmas Shoes and Lucky 7 as well as for her appearance as Laura Parker in Shade, a short film that was also written and directed by her.
Williams married country music singer Brad Paisley on March 15, 2003. In February 2007, their first child, a son named William Huckleberry Paisley was born in Nashville Tennessee. Their second son Jasper was born in April 2009.
She is currently a resident of Nashville, Tennessee with her family.
