Born as Elena Sergeevna Katina on 4 October 1984 in Moscow, she is a Russian singer and songwriter renowned for her work with the Russian duo t.A.T.u. She was only four years of age when her father encouraged Katina to attend several sport and music clubs with the aim of fostering plastic arts artistic talents. She was seven when Katina entered an ordinary school and within a year, she joined a music school to learn piano. At the age of ten, Katina joined a child group “Avenue” as a soloist, and she sang with them for three years. At the age of thirteen, Katina became a member of the vocal and instrumental group Neposedi where she came across Yulia Volkova with whom she developed a friendship. At the casting, Katina sang a French song and mesmerized the judges with her voice quality. Soon Lena had to leave the group due to her age as only children upto the age of 14 years were allowed to sing in Neposedi. She was fourteen when she was cast as a member of pop duo “t.A.T.u.”
The duo went on to become the most successful pop music act in Russia. They produced a number of hits like “All the Things She Said”, “Not Gonna Get Us”, and “All About Us.” Their first single, “All The Things She Said” reached the top spot in 19 countries including the United Kingdom, Russia and Australia.
Katina embarked on a solo career in 2009, and it put breaks on t.A.T.u. before she and Volkova formally split to pursue solo careers in 2011. In the same year, Katina released her first major single, “Never Forget” which reached the number 1 spot on the MTV Russia Top 10 and also won MTV Russia – 2011 Video Of The Year.” The track reached the top spot on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play and reached the top spot in Greece.
In the year 2014, she came out with her debut album, This Is Who I Am.
