Born on March 20, 1974, Paula Garces is a Colombian American film and TV actress famous for her appearance in films like Clockstoppers: Man of the House and The Harold and Kumar Series, and on TV shows like CSI: Miami, The Shield, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, The Sopranos, Oz, Devious Maids and All My Children. She played the role of Alvina in Dangerous Minds with Michel Pfeiffer (1995).
Garces co-starred in the sci-fi adventure film Clockstoppers (2002) starring opposite Jesse Bradford. She was later cast in Richard Benjamin’s hip-hop comedy film Marci X opposite Lisa Kudrow and Damon Wayans.
Garces then appeared opposite Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones in the Revolution Studios film, Man of the House. In the year 2004, she starred in National Lampoon’s Pledge This! During an appearance at a Comic-Con to promote a Harold & Kumar film, Garces observed how there was a large Latino audience for superheroes, despite there being few Latino characters in the genre. She created Further Lane Productions to launch a limited run comic book featuring the Latina superhero Aluna, and later worked with S2 Games to create and voice Aluna as a playable hero added to Heroes of Newerth in 2011. In time for the 2014 Comic-Con, she appeared with sekretagent productions and Allegory Media to create a four-part Aluna comic book series.
Garces’ first child, a daughter named Skye Mahoney was born in 1992. In the year 2002, she married an entrepreneur ad producer named Antonio Hernandez and they have a son together (born in 2013).
