Born as Bhavna Jayanty Limbachia on 21 April 1984, she is a British TV actress. She is best known for playing the role of Alia Khan in Citizen Khan and Rana Habeeb in Coronation Street. Before becoming an actress, she used to work in the costume departments of various film sets such as Chicken Tikka Masala in 2005 (costume assistant), Bradford Riots in 2006 (costume trainee) and All Day Breakfast in 2008 (costumer). In the year 2010, she started her own business designing and selling vintage clothing and accessories. Her TV debut was as Alia Khan in a BBC comedy series Citizen Khan.
In February 2016, Limbachia joined a long-running ITV soap opera, Coronation Street, where she appeared as Rana Habeeb, a love interest for the character named Zeedan Nazir. In January 2019, Limbachia announced that she was leaving the show and her character Rana is going to be killed later in the year. She left in the episode that was aired on 20 March 2019.
Rana happens to be the first muslim LGBTQ+ character ever and her relationship with Faye Brookes, who plays the role of her lover Kate Connor has been publicized among fans and the community. The narrative where Rana discovers her sexuality and the subsequent reaction of her parents was highly acclaimed and the two characters have been coined as a supercouple “Kana.”
Limbachia has Indian Gujarati origins. Her mother was born in India and her father was born in Kenya. She is a Hindu by religion.
