Born on July 13, 1982, as Aya Rachel Cash, Aya Cash is an American actress. She was born and bought up in San Francisco. With a poet and novelist as a mother and Buddhist teacher as a father, she was bound to be drawn to a creative field. She went to San Francisco School of the Arts of which she is an alumna. She attended the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater Actor Training Program and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from there.
Aya Cash made her onscreen debut with an episode in the show Law and Order. Since then she has appeared in numerous shows. Some of the shows were Brotherhood, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Mercy, Law and Order: Criminal Intent and The Newsroom. She got a regular spot in Fox’s comedy show Traffic Light in the year 2011. In 2015, was appreciated for her performance on the website The A.V. Club. She was said to be the best TV performance of 2015. She is also a part of Fx’s comedy series You’re the Worst where she plays the lead part of Gretchen Cutler.

She can be seen in movies like The Oranges, Off Jackson Avenue, Winter of Frozen Dreams, Begin Again, The Happy House and The Bits In Between. She was briefly seen in the movie The Wolf of Wall Street. She was nominated for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series and the TCA Award for Individual Achievement in Comedy for her lead role in the series You’re the Worst.
