Sandra Annette Bullock, an American actress, producer, and philanthropist, was born on July 26, 1964, in Arlington, Virginia. Her father, John W. Bullock (1925-2018), worked for the US Army and also coached voices part-time, while her mother, Helga Mathilde Meyer (1942-2000), was an opera singer and voice teacher. During her childhood, Bullock fell into a creek, resulting in a scar above her left eye. Until she turned 18, Bullock held dual American-German citizenship, but later retained only American citizenship. In 2009, she reapplied for German citizenship.
Bullock has consistently ranked among the highest-paid actresses worldwide and topped the list in 2010 and 2014. People magazine named her “The Most Beautiful Woman” in 2015, and she was recognized by Time as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010. Her early work in romantic comedies earned her the nickname “America’s Sweetheart.” Bullock’s accomplishments include receiving an Academy Award.
Bullock began her acting career with a minor role in the thriller film Hangmen (1987) and gained attention for her supporting role in the action movie Demolition Man (1993). She achieved her breakthrough in the action thriller Speed (1994) and solidified her presence in the 1990s with leading roles in romantic comedies like While You Were Sleeping (1995), Hope Floats (1998), as well as the thrillers The Net (1995) and A Time to Kill (1996).
