Lauren Michelle Jauregui Morgado was born in 1996 in Miami, Florida. She has a mixture of Cuban and Spanish descent. As a student, Jauregui made it in the international baccalaureate school program. She also loved expressing herself through the arts by joining talent shows.
In 2012, Jauregui began her road to fame after auditioning at the music competition show The X Factor U.S. She sang Alicia Key’s “If I Ain’t Got You” for her audition. She impressed the judges who described her voice as husky and perfect.
Soon, Jauregiu got eliminated in the show as a solo act. She later returned and mixed into a group along with four other contestants, which formed the all-female group, Fifth Harmony. They landed in the finals and finished in third place.
Fifth Harmony signed up with music labels, Syco Music and Epic Records in 2013. Jauregui left school to pursue her career as a member of Fifth Harmony and took homeschooling. Later that year, Fifth Harmony released their debut mini-album Better Together.
In 2015, the group released their first studio album Reflection. Jauregui did not make it in the promotion as her grandmother passed away on the same day of the album’s release.
The album’s hit single “Worth It” advanced to Top 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. They also won at the Billboard Women in Music ceremony as Group of the Year. In the same year, Fifth Harmony sang a soundtrack for animated film Hotel Transylvania 2, entitled “I’m in Love with a Monster.”
The group released its second album, 7/27, in 2016. The lead single “Work from Home” peaked at number four spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and made it at the top 10 in several worldwide music charts. The song was said to be the group’s first single to reach the top 10 on the Billboard.
In 2016, Camilla Cabello decided to leave Fifth Harmony to pursue a solo career. A year later, the now four-member group released their third album, Fifth Harmony. It was the first time the group got a full agency on the album’s creative direction and song composition.
In March 2018, Fifth Harmony announced to their fans regarding their hiatus to pursue individual projects.
Before the announcement of the group’s hiatus, Jauregui explored her solo career in 2016. Jauregui’s first solo release was a collaborative effort with the singing duo Marian Hill on the song, “Back to Me.”
Since then, Lauren Jauregui has been working with other artists to release new singles. She collaborated with Halsey in the song “Strangers” and “All Night” with Steve Aoki. As of now, she is currently working towards her upcoming debut album.
