Jeanne Marie Tripplehorn was born in Oklahoma in 1963. She is the daughter of guitarist Tom Tripplehorn from Gary Lewis & the Playboys. She took inspiration from her father when it comes to performing.
After high school, she worked as a radio host at a rock radio station KMOD. She went by the name of DJ Jeanne Summers. She also performed in local TV shows, such as Creature Feature and Night Shift. Tripplehorn soon left for college to study at Julliard School’s Drama Division.

Tripplehorn later appeared in the television film Five as Dr. Pearl Jarente. She also starred in the eighth season of Criminal Minds in 2012.

Her most recent work is at a Hulu miniseries Mrs. America as Eleanor Schlafly and 2020 comedy-drama film Ana as Pastor Helen.
When it comes to her dating life, Tripplehorn dated Ben Stiller from 1990 to 1996. In 2000, she married American actor Leland Jones Orser. He is her co-star in the 1998 film Very Bad Things. Jeanne gave birth to their son named August Tripplehorn Orser in 2002.
